Lead Software Development Engineer
Join the Ventrix™ team and be a part of the next generation Contextual Advertising platform. The Ventrix™ team is responsible for building systems that include massive large scale databases, data engines, contextual search engines, ad delivery engines, data mining engines etc.

As a Lead Software Development Engineer for this startup group, you will be responsible for acting as a technical lead for the design and implementation of a large-scale system that is central to all advertising at Ventrix™ . You will help us entrench ourselves in this $600 billion advertisement space and help us grow beyond the traditional online advertising paradigm into areas of Software Applications etc.

The key attribute for this job is raw smarts and the intellectual horsepower to come up with elegant and simple solutions to interesting problems delivering advertisements in off-line and semi-connected scenarios with bandwidth and power constraints. You should be able to steer technology to walk the fine line between users’ privacy and harnessing user and system information in order to increase the advertising relevance and targeting. Focusing on an enriching ad experience for the consumers across desktop and devices will be a key deliverable for this job. As part of this job, you would be defining APIs for thin and thick clients and ship SDKs. Strong C++ development experience is a must for this role, and exposure to the .Net platform, SQL, and HTTP is a plus. As a SDE lead, you may be responsible for a collection of feature areas, a highly complex feature area, component forming a small subsystem, or a simple product. Additionally, you are expected to influence all disciplines supporting the product within a division. A software development lead is a leader within his or her own feature team. This leadership comes both from team leadership and an understanding of a specific technical area and an ability to convey that understanding through project management and contributions to product strategy.

Responsibilities:
• Lead a team of 4-8 developers through design, coding, and releasing this large application.
• Define the schedule commitment for the team
• Delivers feature areas on time against milestones
• Justifies resource requests and operates within budgeted resources
• Improves the team's engineering system
• Removes obstacles and keeps projects moving forward on schedule
• Assumes responsibility for team leadership
• Aligns team commitments to product and business strategy and proactively communicates disconnects
• Takes responsibility for his/her decisions despite impacts or reactions of the team
• Ensures team understands its connection to customer/partner value
• Uses customer feedback and user experience data to clarify team priorities
• Ensures deliverables are compatible with those of other teams
• Breaks down of barriers across disciplines for better decision-making
• Ensures effective participation and full utilization of resources across feature teams
• Clearly defines the roles and areas of ownership of the team
• Leads recruiting processes for the team
• Provides regular feedback and proactively manages poor performance
• Conducts effective performance reviews of all team members
• Identifies and develops high performers
• Coaches and motivates individuals


Requirements:
• Technical skills must include C#, SQL, ASP.Net, web services. Experience with Windows Services, Networking, HTML, and XML or multimedia will be pluses.
• Contribute and provide technical leadership on architecture, performance, scalability, reliability, availability, manageability, and debugging. Familiarity with design patterns and their usage is expected.
• Familiarity with enterprise application integration and large-scale system design. Experience in E-Commerce, Machine Learning or Algorithms and Online Advertising Systems.
• A Computer Science or related degree, plus at least 7 years experience in delivering packaged system software or major enterprise Internet applications
• Familiarity with Windows programming and debugging methodologies and tools is required. The ability to understand unfamiliar code bases, and debug server-side, multi-threaded, and highly scalable applications is a must. This position also requires strong object-oriented design, sound understanding of multi-tiered system architecture, demonstrated experience in developing and shipping server products or services, and people management experience.
• Familiarity with test driven development methodology is a huge plus.
